Why is Army Day celebrated on 15 January?

The President of the Indian Army was still of British origin. On 15 January 1949 Field Marshal KM Cariappa became the first Indian Army Chief of independent India. At that time there were about 2 lakh soldiers in the army. Army Day began to be celebrated on 15 January every year after KM Cariappa was made the army chief. Every year on January 15, there is a parade of soldiers and different regiments and tableaux are taken out. Army Day is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm.

Let us know that KM Marsiappa (Field Marshal KM Cariappa) was the first such officer who was given the rank of Field Marshal. Commanded the Indian Army in the Indo-Pak war in 1947. Kariyappa retired in the year 1953 and died in 1993 at the age of 94.
