Sushant received his education from St. Karen High School in Patna and Kulachi Hansraj Model School in New Delhi. He secured 7th position in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) and received admission in the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) class at Delhi Technological University, formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering. On July 25, 40 days after Sushant's death, Sushant's father lodged an FIR with the Patna police making serious allegations against Sushant's girlfriend Riya Chakraborty, including his family and 5 people. Adoption is related to criminal treachery and Sushant's money grab.

Finally, on 19 August 2020, the Supreme Court handed over the investigation of the Sushant case to the CBI. The CBI team has started investigating it closely.
