Guru Govind Singh's father's name was Guru Tegh Bahadur and his mother's name was Gujar. He was his only son. Guru Gobind Sinka, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, was born on 22 December 1666 in Sri Patna Sahib. At the time when Guru Sahib was born, Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib was on a trip to Bengal and Assam. When the father returned, Bal Guru Govind Ji met him while running. Bal Gombad Rai remained Patna Sahib till he was 6 years old. Khalsa Panth was established in 1699 by Guru Govind Singh. Also, Gobind Singh Ji gave Khalsa Vani - "Waheguru Ji's Khalsa, Waheguru Ji ki Fatah".


How does Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti "Gurpurab" celebrate?

Kirtan is held in the gurudwaras on the day of Guru Gobind Singh's birth anniversary. Prabhatferi is extracted in the morning. Langar (लंगर) is organized. Services(सेवा) are performed in gurudwaras. Tables of the Khalsa Panth are taken out around Gurudwaras. Many people also do kirtan in their homes.


Guru Gobind Singh's Five Principles of Life

He gave the five principles of living life, known as ‘Pancha Kakaar’. Today, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Guru of Sikhs, thousands of Sikh devotees visit gurdwaras in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Patna, and elsewhere across the country to offer prayers. According to the message of Guru Govind Singh, five things are considered compulsory among the Khalsa Sikhs. These five things -kesh, kada, krpaan, kangha aur kachchha.

"Guru Gobind Singh"  Ji thoughts:-

Promise and Fulfill: If you have made a promise to someone, then it has to be handled at all costs.

Do not condemn, jealousy, scandal: We should always refrain from scandaling, jealousy and should not condemn anyone and there is an advantage in working hard rather than being jealous of someone.

You should not show off less: Work hard at work and do not steal work for work.

To do Gurubani Kirtan: Make Gurubani memorized.

Donation: Donate one-tenth of your earnings to charity.

Live in Present: If you just keep thinking about the future, you will lose the present as well.

Erase EGO: When you erase ego from within you, only then you will get real peace.

Truth: I like those who follow the path of truth.

Do Good: God has given birth to us so that we can do good in the world and remove evil deeds.

Love: The love of man is true devotion to God.

God Helps: Only by doing good deeds can you find God. God helps only those who do good deeds.

God sheds: God sheds the blood of the one who wields his sword on the helpless.

God's Name: No one gets the name of God without a Guru.

Help others: As much as possible, people in need should help.


How did Guru Govind Singh die?

Wajit Khan wanted to kill Guru Ji and he was successful too.

While fighting a killer, Guru Gobind Singh Ji suffered a deep injury to his heart due to which he died at the age of 42, due to which he died on 18 October 1708 in Nanded.

In the end, Guru Gobind Ji asked the Sikhs to consider Guru Granth Sahib as their Guru and also bowed himself.
